Darlingest,
Ya know, fate is a very unpredictable hunk of character! Now take last night - I needed some matches - they have them at the club, so off to the club goes me. It happens to be free beer night. This usually doesn’t interest me to much so I got the matches and was about to leave when the organess started to play Clare De Lune. Dya ever freeze in your tracks? That sort of upside downed me and created a mood. I got “that way” on free beer and “Clare De Lune” was played several more times and each time I got sadder. This morning was sort of sad too, but after some T. Juice and B coffee living conditions improved - but not much. There’s a jukebox in the mess hall and some Joe was playing “there’s no you” all through breakfast. Ole helpful Harry!!
There are lots of rumors floating around. Might as well tell you about them, but take them with a ton of salt. The hottest one is that in six weeks all the fellows who don’t want to stay in the army will be taken off the Bomb Group. This doesn’t mean discharged but it’s a step closer. Once again the ole devil time etc. etc. Then tis said we might be able to swing a three day pass over Thanksgiving. If so I’ll get home. Home to you. A couple of others are that the group is going to Italy and to Paris. All in all, you can quote me as saying “oh fud “ .
My ear is practically all cleared up. The Doc shoved a gadget filled with stuff into my nose and then went squish squish squish. It didn’t feel or taste good but it worked. Reminds me of a similar gadget - I wonder - no it couldn’t be - Could it??? Golly!!!
I can’t figure out a way to swing it on November 17th. No flying pay for this month. If I had my flying time in it could be done. Gee it would be swell. Without flying pay though, it’s just about impossible. If I don’t get a pass over Thanksgiving , do you think you could get Sat. DEc. 1st off? You could leave Friday night by plane or even by train if you couldn’t get a reservation. I could meet you in Kansas City Late Friday night and we could stay there till Sunday evening. I think there’s a pretty good chance of getting plane reservations at K.C. and at Chicago. If it’s O.K. check with T.W. A. I should be able to get my flying time in by then and payday would be Friday. What do you think Darling? Could we do it? Figure hard, huh Honey. Lemmee know quick.
Hey be sure to see “And Then There Were None”. Best damn murder mystery! Darn near everyone gets killed - even the murderer. It has a cast like a super musical. Not such a hot plot, but plenty of corpses. Oh goodie!
Terry’s fella was pretty lucky. Restrictions aren’t too hard to take. The way you wrote about it was funny. Quote you “ I slept overnight at Terry’s house. She wouldn’t let me go to sleep until after two. By the way, Red didn’t get busted. “ Unquote!! Tell Terry Oooooh for me.
Why did Greta say ouch? Did you pinch her? Did Bill? The Cad!!
Just can’t see galloping through Berwyn in the A. M. Seems like a silly thing to do. The waffles sounded good. By gar.
Pox on ex navy fliers who are smooth operators. Bah. Humbug. How smooth? Beware of Lt. Bombardiers, They’re pretty slick too. I know!!
Imagine 1500 women in the grand ball room!!! Shucks, imagine 1500 women!! Hmmmm. Yeah forsooth!
Is Margie mad at you? How about Lu? Doggone it we should have seen them once anyway. For Pete’s sake did Lu really break her back? My goodness.
B. Garmen just blew in and is rushing me. Seems like we’re supposed to be in school or some such nonsense. His romance is at a standstill so far. He’s weakening though.
Oh dill pickles, I’ve got to go now. Hurry up and let me know about Dec. 1st. I’m all excited.
Bye for now Sweetheart.
I love you
Ray
